What does Boyer Sudduth Environmental Consultants have in common with a veterinarian, a nurse, four teachers and a chef?
On a hot day in July, a film crew descended on Chestnut Hill to capture the story of Anne Sudduth and Mary Ann Boyer's sustainability work with schools and businesses, their personal journey as environmentalists and their love of Dansko shoes! Boyer Sudduth Environmental Consultants, was chosen by Dansko, the shoe company best known for its iconic professional clog, to be featured in its #EmbraceYourJourney video storytelling platform about women who “live their lives on their feet, love what they do, and choose the path worth taking.”
The video series features professional women who want their footwear to be stylish and comfortable. For Anne and Mary Ann, the film shoot was a new experience -- from outfit and shoes changes to learning the definition of “B roll.” After a 12-hour day, the Dansko crew captured 1 ½ hours of footage and faced the challenge of reducing it to just over one minute. The final product will be launched in November and featured on social media and on Dankso’s website.
Anne and Mary Ann work with schools to increase environmental awareness and reduce impact. They recognize the key role schools play in shaping the next generation of environmental stewards. Their firm works closely with educational and business clients on all kinds of sustainability-related issues, from waste, to climate change, energy, water and outdoor environments.
“The experience was a great opportunity for us to showcase the importance of environmental sustainability to a broader audience," commented Anne. “We were all in," added Mary Ann. "We have first-hand experience with the product and know the shoes appeal to all ages. In fact, my 24-year-old daughter AND my 92-year-old mother wear Danskos.”

The video clip depicts a “typical day” for Anne and Mary Ann preparing for a professional development session at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, conferring over coffee at the Night Kitchen Bakery and working on client projects at a co-working space. The one difference? A normal day doesn’t include eight outfit changes and multiple pairs of shoes! Dansko’s film crew made the whole experience fun; and fortunately for everyone, Mary Ann and Anne won’t be switching to an acting career!
